1.2 Billion Dollars spent on video games in June – US

Around $1.2 billion have been spent on video games in the US in June itself, the NPD Group – an American market research company- said.

The figures saw a 26% increase compared to the previous year. This is the most amount of money spent in June since the year 2009.
While Coronavirus keeps most of the people stuck in their homes, the gaming industry sees an upward trend in its expenditures.

This comes as the first half of 2020 saw $6.6 billion total spent for the industry, the highest figure for that time frame since 2010 when it hit $7 billion.

Which games top the list in June?

Games such as The Last of Us: Part II, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare boosted the gaming industry in June. The

Last of Us: Part II has still been the best-selling game in June and the third-best game of the year when it comes to sales.

Apart from the gaming industry, online services also were treated well during the pandemic, where online shopping and delivery were welcomed by the customers.
