10 Civilians Kidnapped in Ghazni District Route

At least ten civilians have been abducted by the unidentified armed men in Ghara Bagh district of Ghazni province, local officials said.

Officials said at first the civilians clashed with the armed men and four of civilians were wounded during the clashes.

Government security forces have long struggled to exert control in Ghazni, a historical province with sharp ethnic and tribal divisions and illegal armed groups that operate with impunity.

In the meantime, the Taliban group stormed to Rustam police checkpoint in Deh Yak district of Ghazni that three local police and four Taliban were killed in the incident.

The Taliban have in recent months stepped up attacks across Afghanistan, taking advantage of the warm weather to wage war against the Kabul government.

Many civilians have been caught in the cross-fire and also targeted by roadside bombs, which are among the insurgents’ weapons of choice.
