10 Taliban militants killed in Kunduz

10 Taliban militants were killed in an operation by the Afghan forces in Char Dara district innorthern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

Provincial police chief Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh said the operation was conducted jointly by the Afghan and foreign security forces in Essa Khail village in Char Dara district.

12 armed Taliban were arrested during an air and ground raid, he added.

He continued that at least 12 vehicles and a Taliban cache of weapons were also destroyed in the attack.

Taliban have not made a comment yet.

Char Dara district is a Taliban stronghold in south-western part of Kunduz province from where the insurgents are threatening other districts and the city center.

Taliban fighters could briefly capture Kunduz province last year, but Afghan forces managed to take the control of the city three days after it was captured in a heavy fighting, but the insurgents still controls parts of some districts.
