130 Afghan Forces Surrender To Taliban in Faryab’s Kohistan District

At least 130 Afghan forces have surrendered to the Taliban, following Kohistan district’s collapse in northern Faryab province, local police said Monday.

 The Provincial Police’s Spokesman, Abdul Karim Yurish confirmed the incident and said that the forces were under siege by the Taliban, after the district was fell to the group on Sunday.

 Yurish added that currently the Afghan security forces are in battle with insurgents in  center of Kohistan district, targeting them by air and ground strikes. 

 The Provincial Police’s Spokesman further added that 20 of the surrendered-forces managed to escape and reach to an area of refuge.

 According to local officials, a number of special forces and uprising forces are still under siege by the Taliban in Khan Abad area of Kohistan district. 

Kohistan district in Faryab was fell to the Taliban on Sunday morning, following heavy clashes between security forces and the militants.
