The Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs reports that they have registered 180,000 disabled individuals across the country and a budget of 10 billion afghanis has been allocated to address their needs.

Faisal Khamoosh, the Head of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, states that the ministry has provided half a billion afghanis in assistance to orphans, disabled individuals, and widows in the first six months of the solar year 1402.

Officials also emphasized that to achieve economic self-sufficiency, they have provided vocational training to some orphans and disabled individuals in tailoring, computer programming, mobile and electronic device repair, generator repair, refrigerator repair, and motorcycle repair.

This comes as the Afghanistan Red Crescent Committee announced that approximately 4.4 million people in Afghanistan currently suffer from various physical disabilities.

It’s worth mentioning that the United Nations General Assembly has declared December 3rd as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities every year since 1992.
