20 canals to be built in 5 zones: Zameer

Officials in Ministry of Agriculture and livestock have signed the contract for 20 canals to be built in 5 provinces with the private construction companies, the projects will cost 148 million Afghani, and the following canals will irrigate about 43,000 acres of lands.

Minister of Agriculture and livestock Asadullah Zameer said,” The following 20 canals will be built in one year at Baghlan, Kapisa, Laghman, Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, and its construction process is going to be monitored by the assigned officials from the Ministry.”

He also mentioned that World Bank will pay $45 million to manage Afghanistan’s water.

Mps demanded the Ministry of Agriculture and livestock to launch new policy for managing of Afghanistan’s waters.

Afghan lawmaker Ubaidullah Ramin said,” Government should immediately act about water, if we manage our water that means we will have good harvests out Agriculture fields.”

Based on the information disseminated water management program has been launched since 2012, so far 85 canals has been built at the entire country where hundreds of acres of lands are being watered.
