24 Taliban Insurgents Killed, Wounded in Farah Operations

At least 24 Taliban militants were killed or wounded during clearance operations conducted by Afghan Forces in western Farah province, the 207th Zafar Military Corps said in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, Afghan security forces have launched a clearance operation against the militants in Pusht-i-Rod and Balablok of Farah.

At least five Taliban insurgents were killed and five others wounded during the military raids at Madagan and Sheran villages in Pusht-i-Rod district, as the operations are underway in the district, the statement said.

The statement further noted that during the operations the security forces had disarmed 19 land mines.

Afghan soldiers have also ambushed the Taliban militants at Gonahgan and Nawbahar areas of the district, killing at least eight insurgents and injuring four others.

Meanwhile, at least a Taliban fighter was killed and another wounded in Afghan artillery strikes in Balablok district of the province.

The Taliban militants have not made a comment about the incident yet.

Farah is among the insecure provinces in western Afghanistan, where the Taliban insurgents highly operate in a number of its districts.
