At least 3 civilians were killed and 14 others wounded in a suicide car bombing in the capital of southern Helmand province, a local official said on Monday.

Provincial governor spokesman Omar Zwak told Ariana News that the attack happened in the city of Lashkar Gah which left three civilians dead and 14 others wounded.

But provincial emergency hospital officials said they have received fourteen causalities including civilians and soldiers as a result of the attack.

Reports indicate the dead toll is likely to rise as it is unclear how many people remain unaccounted for after the explosion.

Zwak rejected reports about fall of a police district to Taliban militants said Afghan security forces are performing their routine check up in the area right now.

This comes as earlier today deputy provincial council of Helmand claimed that Taliban had entered a refugee camp in the second police district of Lashkar Gah city in Helmand.

Lashkar Gah has been under attack by Taliban militants for months and the militants have been on the outskirt of the city for a long time aiming to overrun the province.
