Afghan National Security Forces have killed at least 50 Taliban insurgents and injured more than 150 Armed-Taliban in heavy clashes during the last week.

Sediq Sediqi, MoI spokesman who was speaking on a press conference on Tuesday said that Taliban has failed to seize any district despite of their offensive group attacks over a number of provinces.

He added, recently Afghan security forces have preformed about 98 offensive operations in volatile provinces especially in Badakhshan, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Helmand provinces which cost armed insurgents very expensive.

“Fifty insurgents were killed and one hundred and two insurgents were injured during the week, and one hundred and thirty six planted mines have been discovered and defused by Afghan security forces, and we have seized a large number of different weapons during the operations,” Sediqi said.

Taliban insurgents launched spring offensive under the name of ‘Azem’ operations on 24th of April 2015 dreaming to make a foothold for themselves, but Afghan forces foiled all attempts.

Sediqi said,” Taliban invested a large amount to perform widespread and offensive attacks this year, but Afghan security forces were well prepared to respond to these attacks and defeated the insurgents by the cooperation of the people”.

In addition, Sediqi said that Afghan National Police (ANP) will continue to clean up all dark window vehicles in Kabul and provinces and also will struggle to arrest all drug dealers in the capital and provinces.
