For the second time in a week, at least 50 school girls were poison in Jebril town in western Herat province.

Herat regional hospital officials say that at least 50 students were poisoned in Habib Ul Mustafa high school in Jebril town.

Adding, the students were taken to the closest private hospital in the area.

On Monday, at least hundred students were poisoned in the same school, but the reason for poisoning is still not clear though security officials said, they will investigate whether they were poisoned by Taliban militants or it was another reason.

In the past, militants who oppose giving girls the right to education have been blamed for the alleged poisoning.

This comes as security threats by insurgents closed the doors of 24 schools in Haska Mina district of eastern Nengarhar province and deprived at least 5,000 students from education.

According to the statistics provided by the ministry of education about 500 schools were closed across the country due to security threats and thousands of the students have been deprived from their basic right of education.
