75 Taliban Killed, 25 Wounded in Afghan Operation in Herat Province

The local officials in Herat province said that 75 Taliban militants have been killed and 25 others wounded in a wide operation conducted by Afghan security force.

According to the governor spokesperson 12 suspects of terroristic attacks were arrested by Afghan forces and some Taliban commanders were also among the dead militants.

Jilani Farhad, Herat governor’s spokesperson confirmed that “the Taliban shadow deputy governor for Herat province was also killed during the operation”.

The joint operation of Afghan security forces was conducted in some villages belonging to Azizabad area of Shindand district and lasted for 10 days, the local officials further noted.

Herat’s local officials also said that the operation will continue in Shindand and some other insecure areas.

As stated the local officials, 6 Taliban bases and a huge amount of vehicles belonging to the insurgents were also destroyed during the operation.

Mr. Farhad expressed hope that “the operation which hit significant casualties to the armed militants will have positive impact on security situation of the province”.
