Abdullah urges China to press Pakistan on Afghan peace process

Afghan Chief Executive urges China to press Pakistan to use its influence over Taliban leaders to succeed the Afghan peace process.

Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan who was speaking at the China Foreign Affairs University called terrorism a joint threat for both Afghanistan and China and demanded serious efforts of Beijing to ensure the security in his country and the region.

“We would like China to use its positive influence on Pakistan to support our peace initiative and act upon to their QCG promises,” CEO, Abdullah Abdullah said.

He also asked the government of China to increase its efforts to rebuild the historic silk road.

China is a main member of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG), the groups has held four meetings yet and striving to bring the Taliban militant groups into the negotiation table with the Afghan government. Kabul administration believe China has enough influence over Islamabad to convince them to bring the Taliban into the table.
