Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) praises the inauguration of a $10 billion gas pipeline project between the four regional countries, Afghanistan, India, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.

Officials in ACCI say that the National Unity Government (NUG) should use effective capacities for the success of this project that Afghanistan interests do not face any challenges.

“The TAPI project is very essential for Afghanistan in terms of economic. Afghanistan does not have experience in the past 13 years and should form a committee for preventing corruption,” said deputy of chamber of commerce, Khan Jan Alkozai.

In the meantime, the ministry of mine and petroleum says that the Afghan government has the full capacity to install the pipeline.

“We have full capacity for implementation of this project and also have some plans for frauds,” said Mahiuddin Noori, spokesman of ministry of mine and petroleum.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday December 13 attended the ceremony in the Karakum desert outside the southeastern Turkmen city of Mary, marking the beginning of work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) link.

The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Natural Gas Pipeline (TAPI) Project aims to export up to 33 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas per year through a proposed approximately 1,800-kilometer (km) pipeline from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
