Acting Economy Minister Deen Mohammad Hanif discussed the gradual reduction of poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan in a meeting with the UN special representative in Kabul and asked Roza Otunbayeva to launch work-for-food programs to create employment in the country, said the ministry spokesman, Abdurrahman Habib.

Habib said Hanif also asked Otunbayeva to support small and medium enterprises in the fields of agriculture, farming, horticulture, and technical and professional training to create job opportunities.

According to Habib, Otunbayeva stated that the UN plans to launch more job creation projects in the coming year to create work opportunities for the people.

According to some experts, meanwhile, whenever small and medium investments are supported nationally and internationally, changes in the economic situation of the people will happen as soon as possible.

The ministry called for the support of the UN for job creation, while according to this organization’s statistics, more than 20 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian aid in 2024.
