ADB pledges $ 56.6m for Afghanistan flood-hit areas

Asia Development Bank (ADB) and Britain Development Department on Tuesday announced $ 56.6m aid for flood-hit areas of Afghanistan.
The aid agreement signed Tuesday between the Asia development Bank officials and the ministry of finance officials.
Officials in the ministry of finance said that much of the aids will be consumed to reconstruction of flood-hit areas of the country.
According to them, $ 7 million of this aid will be present to the ministry of Energy and Water to reconstruct its damaged projects.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said that nearly 800 projects will be implemented with this aid and about five hundred kilometers of canals will be rebuild.
Officials in Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development added that the implementation of these projects may take two years time to safe vulnerable areas from natural hazards.
