Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) says for the country’s economic self-sufficiency, it is vital to support domestic production and achieve economic self-sufficiency in Afghanistan.

Speaking at a ceremony in Kabul, head of AFDA Abdulbari Omar said that Afghanistan needs to achieve economic freedom like other nations and this work requires support for domestic production.

However, head of Chamber of Industries and Mines Shirbaz Kaminzada asked the government to use domestic products and to stop the import of foreign drugs.

“If we prove that we are self-sufficient here, support us and you did, compared to any other time, the situation is more favorable now, the reason is that no one can smuggle drugs,” said Kaminzada.

According to Kaminzada, according to the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate, domestic products should be used and this will be implemented soon.

Meanwhile, the officials of one of the companies producing medicines said in this meeting that they currently produce 43 types of drugs.

Currently in Afghanistan, $300 million has been invested in the pharmaceutical production sector and employment has been provided for 15,000 people, and the country has reached self-sufficiency in the production of 15 types of pharmaceuticals.
