Afghan airstrikes kill 45 Taliban, wounded 40 – Official
45 Taliban insurgents were killed and 40 others wounded in Afghan security forces air attack in Shorabak district of Kandahar on Tuesday night.
According to the reports Taliban gunmen had planned to attack Shorabak district, but ANSF was informed about the plot in advance and targeted all the attackers before they start their offensive.
Provincial governor spokesman, Zia Durani said that last night a large number of Taliban insurgents were gathered in Badi Tapa area plotting to attack, but they were targeted by airstrikes.
“45 Taliban insurgents were killed, another 40 insurgents were injured and four Land Cruizers were burned,” Durani added.
Official confirms that this offensive was headed by Kandhar Chief of Police, Gen. Abdul Raziq who was accompanying Afghan security forces during the operations.
Taliban has not commented on this report yet.
