Afghan army free 23 civilian inmates in Taliban jail raid

At least 23 civilian inmates were released from a Taliban prison in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, local officials said.

Provincial governor spokesman, Omar Zwak said that the inmates were released last night from Koro Charaee area in Marja district in an Afghan National Army (ANA) military raid.

Three Taliban militants who were tasked to keep an eye over the prison were also arrested during the prison break by Afghan forces, Zwak added.

Taliban militant has yet to make a comment about the incident.
