Afghan businessmen in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan ‘ready to return home’

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on X that Nooruddin Azizi, the acting minister of commerce and industry, met with a businessman on Wednesday who was representing 33 business owners living in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and who want to return to Afghanistan.

Engineer Azizullah Rozi met with Azizi on Wednesday for talks. He had with him a list of business owners, from 33 companies, who live in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, but who are keen to move back to Afghanistan.

In the meeting with Rozi, Azizi emphasized brotherhood and unity. He said: “The homeland belongs to all ethnic groups and if we do not move together, the work will not be done and we must all work together for the prosperity and development of the homeland.”

Speaking on behalf of the 33 business owners, Rozi said: “The officials of the mentioned companies want to return and transfer their capital to Afghanistan.”

“Afghanistan with its mines is a rich country and it only needs management,” he said.

Azizi meanwhile also stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) welcomes the return of its compatriots to the country, and that the ministry will support them.
