Afghan forces kill Taliban shadow district governor in Baghlan

The Afghan security forces have killed Qari Abdul Wasay, the Taliban shadow district governor for Tala wa Barfak district in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan, local officials said on Wednesday.

“The operation was performed by the Afghan National Directorate of Security today morning in Gezan area of Khinjan district,” Abdul Sattar Barez, the governor of Baghlan province told Ariana News.

“Another two Taliban fighters and a member of the Afghan spy agency were also injured during the operation,” Barez added.

According to the source governmental forces have seized some weapons from the militants too.

Taliban yet to make a comment about the incident.

Tala wa Barfak is a district in volatile Baghlan province of Afghanistan situated in the most southwestern part of the province where Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of its areas.
