Afghan Intelligence Chief Reportedly Asked Dostum to Return Home

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief, Masoom Stanikzai has reportedly met the First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum in Anqara and urged him to return to Kabul.

Supporters of Jamiat-e Islami party say the Presidential Palace has received a negative respond for the recommendation and ARG is trying to ruin the fresh coalition.

“ARG did not receive a positive response from Gen. Dustom. With formation of this coalition, ARG has been crushed and wants begin talks,” said Farhad Azimi, close person to Jamiat-e Islami leader.

According to Jamiat-e Islami supporters, the new coalition opened a negotiation door for ARG and all political currents.

“The talks door is open for any currents. Gen. Dustom has the right to negotiate with ARG on retaking his authorities back and his position as first vice president,” Azimi added.

The spokesmen of Junbesh-e Mili and ARG refused to comment regarding this issue.

The critics of Gen. Dostum, Rabani, Noor and Muhaqiq coalition say two things should be complete before the official announcement of the new coalition; first, finalization of vice president and Ishchi case and second the resignation of these government officials.

“These persons should resign at first and then President announce it in a decree and they can form oppositions or coalition against the government,” said Nazir Ahmad Ahmad Zai, deputy of the lower house of parliament.

Recently, Leaders of three political parties, all of whom hold senior positions in the government, announced from Turkey that they have formed a coalition to save Afghanistan from chaos, issued a list of demands for reforms by President Ashraf Ghani, and vowed to hold mass protests unless they are met.
