Afghan intelligence thwarted Haqqani Network plots in Kabul, Khost

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s Intelligence Agency has discovered two weapon cache of the Haqqani terrorist network in the capital Kabul and Khost province of Afghanistan.

In two separate statements released by the Afghan spy agency the NDS said that the first weapons and ammunitions cache was discovered in Tara Khail village in Deh Sabz area of Kabul on Tuesday and the second was discovered and thwarted on Wednesday in Ali Shir district of Khost province in eastern Afghanistan.

According to the statements the depots were belong to Haqqani insurgent group using asymmetric warfare to fight against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan.

A large number of weapons and ammunitions were also seized during the special operations accompanied by the Afghan police forces, the statements added.

Terrorists were planning to perform high profile coordinated attacks using these depots over the Kabul International Airport and Khost province, but fortunately the plans were foiled, the statement continued.

These failure by Taliban hard-line group comes as they announced offensive in Afghanistan on Tuesday.

The Haqqani network is a guerilla insurgent group using asymmetric warfare to fight against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. Maulvi Jalaluddin Haqqani is the founder of the terrorist network and his son Sirajuddin Haqqani leads the group.
