Afghan Police Brutally Beats, Burns Wife

Afghan policeman has beaten his 23 year-old wife with shovel and pickaxes and burned her alive then escaped.

With drawn eyebrows and dark eyes, the 23 year-old Shayma says about cruelly violence in her family, “First, my husband beaten me with shovel and pickaxes and then burned me.”

Shayma has a two and half year-old child and claims that she has always been beating by her husband during a few years of their marriage.

“My husband has escaped, I’ve been imprisoned at home for hours to reach a hospital,” the burned Shayma said.

The family of Shayma demands justice, her father is a farmer and cannot afford her treatment.

“Our demand from government is to address these cases, that no one can commit such crimes,” Shayma’s mother said.

Doctors in Heart regional hospital said the victims often do not complaint against the suspects in such cases; The Female victims are afraid of complaining.

This comes as the government never releases and broadcasts the cases of violence against women.

A girl was stoned to death in Ghor two years ago and a woman burned alive in Kabul along with thousand cases of violence against women that have not been addressed.
