Afghan Political Actors’ Meeting in Kandahar Aims to ‘Put Pressure on NUG’

The due discourse of Afghan political actors in Kandahar is to put pressure on the National Unity Government, the participants of the meeting said Thursday.

“The politicians will gather  to take important decisions on Afghanistan’s future,” said the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Humayoun Humayoun who himself among the participants of the meeting.

Seventy members of Wolesi Jirga or the Lower House of Parliament, members of Jamiat Islami and Mehwar-e-Mardum parties, Coalition for Salvation of Afghanistan, National Front and some other Afghan politicians are the participants of the due meeting in Kandahar.

“They [NUG leaders] should respect our demands,” said Bashir Ahmad Tayenj, a member of Coalition for Salvation of Afghanistan. ” [They] should not drive out someone from the government and only two or three persons take decisions on the fate of Afghanistan.”

The political figures and parties which have gathered in Kandahar, all of them are among the government critics, stating that will take big decisions regarding the country’s future.

” We do not want to put an end to the government’s term, so the government later accuse MPs of halting the plans, they [NUG leaders] should continue until the end of their term,” said Abdul Wudod Paiman, an MP who is also among the participants.

According to Humayoun, the Kandahar discourse was expected to be held today but it was postponed for Friday due to Prophet Muhammad’s birthday – commemorated by Muslims during the month of Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month of the Muslim calendar.
