Afghan Protesters to Set Up More Empathy-Tents in Kabul
Spokesman of Resurrection Movement for Change, Fahim Fetrat warned if the government does not address their demands, they will increase more tents in Kabul. “We welcome negotiations and talks, but our pre-condition is the dismissal of Hanif Atmar, the National Security Adviser.”
An anti-government protest spiraled into a deadly street battle on last Friday, with security forces opening fire and using armored vehicles to chase demonstrators angered by a massive truck bombing last week.
At least seven demonstrators were killed, one of whom was the son of Parliament’s first deputy speaker and dozens injured in the incident.
Today is the fifth day that protesters are sitting under tents and calling for addressing their demands.
Mass demonstrations in Kabul, in particularly in response to highly emotive events, are generally met with great anxiety by the sitting government.
