The Afghanistan government said that the terrorist groups had many plans and dreams for this year which all of them turned to despair.

The chief of executive officer (CEO), Abdullah Abdullah says our Afghan security forces have razed the dreams and aspirations of the armed oppositions of the government.

Abdullah Abdullah stressed that security forces have thwarted all terrorist plans.

The Afghan security forces began a major operation on February 16, against Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan. The operation – referred to as Zolfiqar – is the first “completely Afghan-led offensive” in the Taliban stronghold of Helmand Province since US-led international forces ended their military mission in the country.

Experts say, Afghan security forces’ on-going large offensive against the Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan is a demonstration of their abilities and a call for continuing international support.

“We are alongside with our security forces and support them,” Abdullah said.

The Afghan Taliban, ousted from power by a US-led coalition in 2001, have been staging almost daily attacks in Kabul and claimed responsibility for the latest assault.

While the Afghan operations are intended to showcase Afghan Security forces’ abilities, military experts say that the mission also serves to highlight the troops’ need for more equipment such as heavy weapons and continued foreign support.

Following the increase of conflicts in several parts of the country, the ministerial council priority and focus is on security reports.
