Afghanistan Needs More U.S. Forces to End Ongoing War: MoD
“We ask U.S. Department of State to deploy more troops to Afghanistan,” the Afghan Defense Ministry Spokesman, Dawlat Waziri said. “We want our army to stand on their own feet after four years. The Americans presence for training and advising is necessity and it helps us,” he added.
Supporting Afghan army and air forces is part of the U.S. new strategy for Afghanistan as it was announced by President Donald Trump about two weeks.
“Afghan forces need further support, especially for conducting air operations in order to overcome on the enemies,” said Afghan Parliament Member, Mohammad Hashim Faryabi.
The call comes as Washington is expected to send more troops in the country that already hosts 11,000 American soldiers – mainly engaged in training and advising of Afghan Defense and Security forces.
The U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Thursday said that he has signed orders to send more troops to Afghanistan as a part of the U.S. new strategy to end the America’s longest war.
