Afghanistan, Pakistan to Hold Trilateral Meeting Soon: Presidency  

Afghanistan, Pakistan and China to hold a trilateral meeting soon in a bid to ease tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, the President’s Office said Monday.

The expected meeting in China comes as about two months earlier, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Qamar Javid Bajwa has visited Kabul, where he announced his country’s  commitment to hold a meeting of Pakistani religious scholars within two weeks after the visit, and to shut down the Pakistani-based hospitals where the Afghan Taliban  fighters being treated.

However, Afghan presidency says that Islamabad has not implemented any of its commitments made in fight against terrorism and in ensuring peace in Afghanistan.

“Unfortunately, Pakistan yet to take practical steps, Pakistan has not implemented its commitments,” said the President’s Office Acting Spokesman, Shah Hussain Murtazawi. “We hope the meeting in China could find a solution.”

Despite, the U.S. South Asia strategy that warns Pakistan to act against the terrorists’ sanctuaries in its soil or Washington will act itself; it seems the pressures have not led Islamabad to act against insurgents’ hideouts.
