Afghanistan Requires $5 Billion in Funding for Electricity Capacity Countrywide

The Minister of Energy and Water says Afghanistan Requires Five Billion USD to ‘slightly’ reach self sufficiency in electricity.

Introducing the new head of Breshna Sherket in Kabul, Minister Ali Ahmad Osmani said that the government should make power generation its highest priority.

“If we want to reach to self-sufficiency in energy, we need 4 to 5 billion USD in funding for the power sector,” Osmani said. “Our international partners should support us in regard,” he said.

The new head of Breshna Sherket, Amanullah Ghalib, said that he will make efforts to extend electric power service throughout the country and pave the way for increased domestic power generation.

“We will make efforts to increase energy production inside the country, control the consumption and solved the issues of other parts,” Ghalib said.
