The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has reiterated Afghanistan has not yet achieved a strong Air Force despite several commitments of world countries.

MoD spokesman General Zahir Azimi has stated that based on the promises of international community, the Afghan Air Force must get strength and equipment until 2016.

He noted currently the Afghan Army had 100 percent responsibility of operations but only the Air Force needed strong attention.

“Foreign forces’ cooperation with our Air Force has increased since the signing of security agreement between Kabul and Washington,” Azimi told Ariana News reporter.

“All the international soldiers will desert Afghanistan in next two months and their bases will come under our authority.”

Despite strong support of Afghan Army by the international allies over the past 13 years, the Air Force department is still weak and needs more attention.

The international community, however, has promised that this time they will focus more on Air Force of Afghanistan.
