The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) said on Sunday that the allegations case against former electoral commissioners would be finalized in coming days.

About two weeks ago, the Attorney General’s Office has barred 12 former members of the election commission and the electoral complaints commission from traveling abroad in a move to allow a tasked team to probe the allegations against them.

Jamshid Rasooli, the spokesman of AGO said that the election commissioners allegations case requires some time to be properly investigated and that their case soon it will be finalized.

The electoral commissioners were dismissed after the amendment for the electoral law was approved by the cabinet and signed off by President Ashraf Ghani.

The move, however, has drawn criticism of some politicians including presidential candidates Mohammad Haneef Atmar and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
