ANA launch clearing operation in eastern Afghanistan

Afghan military forces have launched a clearance operation against the Taliban and Islamic State (IS) militants in eastern Nengarhar province of Afghanistan, a MoD spokesman said on Saturday.
“The operation was launched this morning in Khogyani, Shirzad and Hesarak districts, it will continue for a month,” Noman Hatifi, 201st Silab Corps spokesman told to Ariana News.
The objective of the operation is to target the Taliban and IS affiliates, and ensure the security for the construction of the second Kabul – Jalalabad Highway, he added.
Afghan security forces are conducting operations in eastern Afghanistan as insecurity increases in Nengarhar after the two rival groups start fighting and many residents displaced.
