Some Afghan analysts say President Ashraf Ghani remarks against the Interior Ministry (MoI) were the indication of his collusion with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah.

The analysts stressed that the Interior Ministry is not part of Ghani’s power-share with Abdullah in the Unity Government; therefore, he is calling the ministry as the most corrupted government institutions.

President Ghani on Monday during the third annual European Union Anti-Corruption Conference called the Interior Ministry as heart of corruption in the government institutions.

“The President knows corruption has influence within his government. There are some ministries that are more corrupted than the Interior Ministry, the Interior and Foreign Affairs Ministries are not part of his share…all controversial appointments being made by the President, he is the leader and he is hiring them,” said political analyst, Ahmad Sayedi.

A member of the Parliament Fakor Behisti said that the interferences are there from every side including the President, Parliament and Cabinet members that lead to corruption within the institutions.

However, the Interior Ministry Acting Spokesman, Najib Danish stressed on the importance of having strong commitment in fight against corruption.

“The organizations which are working in case can have such judgments but it is important that how serious we are in fight against corruption,” Danish said.
