ANSF To Assume Full Security Responsibility In Next 4 Months: MoD

The Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF) would take the security responsibility of the entire country in next four months which would be considered the end of NATO combat mission in Afghanistan, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Defense Minister Besmillah Muhammadi expressed these statements during the graduation ceremony of 249 cadets at Marshal Fahim Military Academy of Kabul.

Muhammadi stated that despite the current year of 2014 had been the deadliest year for the soldiers, the National Army had thwarted Taliban’s plan of occupying several districts.

“They (Taliban) had planned to occupy some places and destroy our infrastructures but fortunately they were blind, they failed to block even a single highway for an hour.”

Muhammadi praised the continued support of outgoing President Hamid Karzai to the Afghan security forces and called on the new government to begin its work sooner.

“We will assume the complete security responsibility from NATO troops in next four months and we welcome the exit of international troops,” defense minister Muhammadi declared.

Also present at the event, the British defense minister Michael Fallon committed his countries continued support of Afghan military and civilian sectors.

“While UK is ending its combat mission in Afghanistan, it will continue its support to this country. We gave lots of sacrifice to prevent Afghanistan from once again falling into the hands of Taliban,” minister Fallon stated.
