Anti-Corruption Institutions Warns Sharpe Rise in Corruption

Afghanistan Anti-Corruption Institutions have warned a sharp increase in corruption compared to the past.

The High Office for Oversight and Anti-corruption (HOOAC)officials believe that the corruption has become systematic and no institutions are free of this phenomenon.

“There are many corrupted circles in the system and rooted to the Presidential Palace and Executive Office,” said Khan Zaman Amar Khail, member of anti-corruption institutions.

HOOAC noted despite the National Unity Government has taken firm steps in the beginning, the corruption has risen over time.

However, anti-corruption officials stressed that the government is fully committed in fight against this phenomenon.

The international community has long expressed concern about corruption in Afghanistan because it reduces confidence in the Western-backed government.

Donor nations also fear aid money could be diverted by corrupt officials or mismanaged.

Corruption in Afghanistan is now a complex phenomenon that requires extensive efforts from both national and international authorities to be comprehended and resolved.

Definitely, the anti-corruption institutions, equipped with authority and facilities can be major contributors in curbing it and Afghan government needs to support them appropriately.
