At least 25 Killed, 30 Injured including Senate Deputy in A Blast in Pakistan

At least 25 people were killed and 30 more injured including Senate Deputy Chairman of Pakistan Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in an explosion in southwestern Balochistan province of the country,  Pakistani media reported Friday.

The blast took place in the town of Mastung, about 50km south of Balochistan’s provincial capital of Quetta on Friday.

According to Geo News the blast targeted the convoy of Ghafoor Haideri that left him injured.  

Dr Sher Ahmed, the government’s district health chief in Mastung, said at least 25 died and another 37 people were wounded.

“He [Haideri] was wounded by the blast but someone who was sitting next to him, and his driver were both killed,” Ahmed added. 

Haideri said: “I am fine, thank God. I have been wounded. I am being taken to the [combined military hospital in Quetta] …

“The explosion happened on my car … the glass from the front windscreen hit me, and the side door also buckled after the blast. I think only Allah has saved me”

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
