An Afghan-born Australian woman has been kidnapped by two unknown gunmen in police district 10th of Kabul city on Saturday.

A source who wished not to be named said, the woman abducted in the Qala-i-Fatullah area was working for ACBAR, a non-governmental organization.

Police has launched its investigations to trace the kidnappers and release the woman, the source added.

No individual or group has claimed the responsibility for the incident yet.

This year alone, at least two other Australians were kidnapped in the country.

Kidnapping has long been a major problem in Afghanistan, affecting Afghans more often especially in the provinces.
