Badakhshan residents call for dismissal of Governor and Security Commander
Hundreds of residents in Badakhshan province organized a protest and accused the Governor and Security Commander of incompetence because of the insurgency crisis faced in Yamgan district.
They urged the government to dismiss the Governor and the Security Commander on these grounds.
The protestors claimed that hundreds of Yamgan residents had fled to the mountains to evade the occupying insurgents but the Security Agencies had been inconsiderate of the fact.
However, Shah Wali Adib, Governor of Badakhshan, has strongly denied all allegations raised by the protestors.
Afghan military forces and police personnel are said to have wrested control of Yamgan back from Taliban terrorists after a 72 hours standoff.
This incident had taken a heavy toll on both civilian and military lives.
