Bat-e-Kot Local Officials Injured When Vehicle Hits Roadside Bomb

Haji Ghalib, governor of Bat-e-Kot district of Nangarhar province on Saturday wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in eastern Afghanistan.

Officials confirmed the incident, adding that four people including the district governor, police chief, intelligence in charge and a security guard were wounded after their vehicle hit a roadside bomb.

Provincial governor spokesperson, Attaullah Khogyani said that the local officials were on their way to Jani Khail area of the district in order to arrest some suspects while their vehicle was hit with an IED.

He added that wounded officials were taken to the Nangarhar regional hospital for treatment with some in critical conditions.

No group has claimed the responsibility behind the attack so far.

Previously, Haji Ghalib was the district governor of Achin where he fought for a long time with the Islamic State militants.
