Belgian attacker shot dead after wounding two female officers
Reportedly the man has shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“Allah is greatest”) while attacking the officers.
According to the reports one of the policewomen who was targeted suffered minor cuts, but the other had to receive treatment for wounds to her face.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel has said that initial indications shows this was an act of terrorism.
Charleroi was used as a base by some of the jihadists involved in the attacks on Paris in November 2015 and Brussels earlier this year.
This comes after suicide bombers attacked an airport terminal and a metro station in the Belgian capital on March, killing 32 people and injuring many more.
