Car Bomb Hits Afghan Spy Office in Helmand

A suicide car targeted a local office belonging to Afghanistan National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Lashkargah, the capital city of Helmand province, said a local official.

According to Omer Zawak, spokesman of Helmand governor, the incident took place around 8:00 AM in Karte Lagan area of Lashkargah city this morning.

Nine people including children and women were wounded in the attack, Helmand governor media office said in a statement issued today.

According to the statement, the wounded people included five school children, three civilians including women, and a soldier of NDS.

The statement also indicated that two other consecutive motor and car bombings also  targeted a security outpost of Afghan military in Nad-e-Ali district of the same province.

“Two Afghan Army soldiers were killed in the attacks”, the statement noted.

Both attacks were immediately claimed by the Taliban militant group and the group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said that dozens gunmen were killed in the attacks.
