Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah urged newly formed political coalitions and critics to act responsibly and seek their objectives through negotiation.

Introducing Hamid Tahmasi as the Acting Minister for Transportation and Civil Aviation on Tuesday, Abdullah said that Afghan politicians should be united and work together for the national interest. Abdullah said that all politicians including those inside government should embrace negotiation and a system of unified decision making. “Otherwise the enemies will use the opportunity against us,” the Chief Executive said.

Emphasizing the equal application of justice, the Chief Executive also stressed that the government is committed to implement the key demands of the people, meaning the reform of state institutions.

“We accept there are weaknesses, reforms needed, [that the] demands of the people should be heeded, unity must be maintained and if justice was not ensured the system will be weakened,” Abdullah said.

The Chief Executive’s comments comes two days after the Governor of Balkh and the leader of Jamiet-e-Islami criticized the government of monopolization and ethnic dissension.
