Afghanistan Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah has assured that the Helmand province will not fall to militant groups.

After evaluating the security situation of Helmand province, CEO noted that the war strategy in Helmand has not been changed and the Taliban group has failed in war against Afghan security forces.

“The residences of Helmand province do not want the governance of Taliban too. I assure that this province will not fall to Taliban,” said CEO, Abdullah Abdullah.

The situation in Helmand carries sharp echoes of the situation that led to the Taliban’s biggest success in the 15-years war: their brief capture of the northern city of Kunduz in September.

“There are many reports about security situation; where the arms and aids came from? These issues monitor through security system. And they find the problems,” CEO said.

The war has not had any change in the current year and Taliban is accelerating attempts to take the control of the Helmand province.

“Helmand is the important part of Afghanistan which is connected to the central zones. And this cuased the enemies pay more attention to this province,” CEO added.

Helmand province, a major centre of opium cultivation and a traditional Taliban heartland that British and American forces struggled for years to control, has been the scene of fierce fighting for months.
