Civil society activists call IEC head summon to Parliament illegal

Civil society activists have called summoning of head of the independent Election commission illegal and contrary to reformation law.

They have urged that Afghanistan will only experience fair and free elections by reformation of Election system in the country.

Head of the independent Election Commission Ahmad Yosuf Nuristani was summoned by the lower house of the parliament to provide more information over the Election calendar for holding the parliamentary and district level council Election in Afghanistan.

“ Inshallah we will determine the exact date for holding parliamentary Election on Monday , in this regard we have the Government supports.”

Head of the civil society Aziz Rafiee said,” Afghanistan doesn’t have stable condition,the concerns increased when no agreement is made for doing reformation, the Independent Election Commission was declared illegal and now the following commission is trying to announce the Election calendar.”

While other civil society activist Bari Salam said,” First words who shout for reformation were the Mps,now they reject their words this is not good, condition will more be deteriorated.”

Reformation was one of the basic articles of the National Unity Government agreement,since International community declared the continuation of their aids based on the reformation in Afghanistan Election system.
