Commodity Shipments From China Delayed For Months: ACCI

Officials from The Chamber of Commerce and Industry have criticized officials from The Ministry of Finance for their failure to remove barriers on the importation of commodities from China. Members of Afghanistan’s Parliament urged the Ministry of Finance to resolve the issue.

Afghan Parliamentary Representatives also stated that if the Finance Ministry fails to remove the trade barriers, MoF officials will be summoned to the Lower House of Parliament to answer questions.

Khan Jan Alkozai, Deputy Chairman of The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “The commodities which will be coming to Afghanistan from China are ready, but according to issues with the Ministry of Finance, it delays the goods to reach to Afghanistan.”

MP Sadiqizada Nilee said, “We are aware of this issue, if the Ministry of Finance doesn’t resolve the issue we will soon question them in the House.”

Some economic analysts have clamed that some Ministry of Finance officials are pessimistic regarding economic reforms in Afghanistan.  Economic analyst Sayed Qeias Saiedi said, “There are some who do not want the economy to grow, the railway issue should be resolved as soon as possible.”

Officials from the Ministry of Finance dis not respond to ATN’s request for comment.
