Contract signed on construction of a ring road in Herat

A contract for construction of a ring road in Herat province signed on Tuesday by ministry of public works.

Having 18 months’ timescale, the project will be completed with an estimated cost of more than $ 11 million, which would be paid by the Italian government.

According to officials, with the construction of the ring road congestion can be reduced and it can be an alternative road to Herat-Islam Qala and Herat-Kandahar roads.

The minister of Public Works says, with construction of this road, the high tonnage vehicles will use it more.

“The company must completed the project in a specific time. The construction of this road is very essential and if they fail they will seriously dealt,” Mahmud Baligh, minister of Public Work said.

A number of Parliament representatives also considered the construction of this ring road effective for economic growth.

“Construction of roads is a valuable development which great economic ties provide with the region,” Nazir Ahmad Hanafi, Parliament representative said.

The ring road is nearly 21 km long and 10 meters wide that will be inaugurated in the next 18 months.
