Contracts signed for 15 projects by MRRD

The ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) signed 15 new development projects with private construction companies.

Officials in ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said of the 15 new projects 10 of them are for the National Rural Access Program (NRAP) that include the construction and graveling of 95-kilometer rural roads in the provinces of Urozgan, Ghazni, Faryab, Balkh, Takhar, Khost, Pakita and Kabul.

According to the officials in MRRD, these projects cost around 283,000,000 AFN (USD 4,909,784) which is funded by the World Bank.

Nasir Ahmad Durani, minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said, “The ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development will seriously monitoring the implementation of these projects and the construction companies should perform their tasks under the rules of the contracts.”

Meanwhile, the MRRD signed another 5 contracts for five water supply network projects the Afghan construction companies.

The implementation of these projects will be started in the new solar year in collaboration with the Community Development Councils (CDCs).

MRRD’s mission is to contribute to poverty alleviation in rural areas by empowering communities and fostering economic and social opportunities.
