Daesh Activities in Afghanistan Should Be Part of US-Taliban Talks: Afghan Senator

Daesh activities in Afghanistan must be a part of the U.S.-Taliban talks since it is a serious alarm for the future of the country, said Mohammad Alam Izdyar, an Afghan senator.

Izadyar who is the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of Parliament on Sunday session said if the international community and the United States do not take practical steps for the eradication of Daesh, the activities of the terror group will increase in the war-torn country.

Meanwhile, Afghan senators called on the United States to stay committed with Afghanistan and suppress the terrorist groups in Afghanistan and their supporters.

“The U.S. must prove its friendship with Afghanistan by pressuring the terrorist groups until they lay down their arms and accept a ceasefire,” said Faisal Samay, Deputy Secretary of the Upper House.

At the same time, Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, the Chairman of the Upper House criticized U.S.-Taliban talks in Doha, saying any U.S. decision should not be against the will of Afghan nation.

“I’m calling on the U.S. that whatever the American officials are discussing in Qatar with the Taliban should include the Afghan nation and Afghan government,” said Muslimyar.

In addition, senators expressed their concerns regarding the increase of civilian casualties in recent months. Recently, a large number of civilians have lost their lives in Taliban attacks and Afghan forces night raids.
