District Police Chief Killed in Roadside Mine Blast in Farah

Sheb Koh District Police Chief, Rahmatullah Zahiri has been killed in a roadside mine blast in western Farah province of Afghanistan, officials said Wednesday. 

The Provincial Governor’s Spokesman Mohammad Nasir Mehri confirmed the incident and said that it happened when the vehicle carrying the district police chief struck on a roadside mine on way to the center of Sheb Koh district.

According to Spokesman Mehri, a bodyguard of Zahiri was also dead in the incident.

Month ago, Sheb Koh District Governor, Abdul Rahim Haidari was also killed in a roadside mine blast along with the district CID official, Agha Jan.

The Taliban did not immediately comment in regard, but Afghan officials previously blamed the Taliban behind the similar incidents.
