Donors suspend financial aids to HPC

Officials in Afghanistan High Peace Council HPC have confirmed that donors countries have suspended their financial aid to our Office and the main reasons for halting the cooperation were that the high peace council has been without a chairman for a year and also there have been issues within the secretariat of the council.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK government have suspended financial cooperation to HPC since the beginning of the 2016, HPC Officials said.

They have urged if the following aids doesn’t get its Normal processing, it will impact negatively over the peace talks process.

However a number of political experts have believed that the following HPC is project,they have been only lavishing money and have had no significant achievements in the past several years.

According to officials in HPC the main countries which were counted as donors were USA, Britain, Germany and Japan.

HPC adviser Mohammad Ismail Qasimyar declared the reasons which has led the donors to suspend their aids,the high peace council has been without a chairman for a year and also there have been issues within the secretariat of the council.”

Members at HPC have urged that halting of aids will directly impact on peace talks process ,however a number of political experts believed that the following institution has only been familiarized how to spend money and gain no achievements.

Political expert Abdul Fatah said,” High peace council has been a ceremonial Bureau,where they couldn’t even bring Taliban into negotiation table in the past several years spending millions $.”

Meanwhile Kabul residents have also accused officials in HPC for not doing a great job.

Kabul resident Hashmatullah said,” I m not satisfied what HPC members have done for Afghans.”

High peace council has been established on 2009 by a decree released by the former President Hamid Karzai.
